How to become a crazy cat lady/lord.

The whole crazy cat lady thing is a concept that is well known to all cat lovers, and what used to be considered as a title associated with loneliness and antisocial traits this has all changed now. In order to ensure that you are up to date with the latest trend of ‘cat lord or lady’ (not cat man, you’re not a superhero) then follow the steps below.

Step 1 ) Realise that something’s missing in your life, but not quite enough to warrant the commitment of a dog and/or child.

Step 2) Visit every single animal rescue shelter in a 10 mile radius for at least 4 weekends in a row.

Step 3) Choose your perfect companion, or let them choose you.

Step 4) Adopt said companion.

Step 5) Embrace what you have now become by allowing yourself to be covered in cat hair and applauding every time your cat poos in its litter tray (warning: cat poo is the worst smelling substance known to man).

From my own personal experience of becoming a crazy cat lady, I would highly recommend adopting an older cat over a kitten. Firstly, the size and personality of an older cat is already known so what you see is what you get. If you want a small cat, a big cat, a sleepy cat or an active cat you can search for your perfect match. After experiencing life with a kitten I can also say that older cats have a lot more common sense and therefore need less supervision; perfect for people who work or cannot always be at home to stop their kitten from falling into the toilet.

Owning a ‘senior kittizen’ can be extremely rewarding so go for the minority choice and adopt an older (black) cat!
